Stronger at 55: How Erin is Living Proof That Strength Has No Age Limit

At 55 years old, Erin Molhoek is in the best shape of her life—and she has the confidence, energy, and strength to prove it.

This functional strength and high energy enable Erin to live life on her terms.

And she credits much of her vitality to consistent strength training at PowerStrength, where she’s been a member since 2018.

BUILT FOR LONGEVITY

“I came to PowerStrength so I would age in a healthy way, and that I could be active until I was 75–80, Erin said.

Her fitness journey didn’t start with lifting weights. In her 20s, 30s, and early 40s, Erin was a runner—though not because she loved it.

“It was totally just so I could eat what I wanted,” she laughed.

But after seeing her grandmother struggle with osteoporosis, she knew she needed to take her long-term health more seriously.

That’s when strength training entered the picture—and everything changed.

“When I started to do the weight training at PowerStrength, I noticed a huge difference—in how my clothes fit, in my health, and my strength. And, I don’t think I’ve run since,” she said with a smile.

FROM 2 DAYS A WEEK TO FEELING 28 AGAIN

For years, Erin trained twice a week at PowerStrength. But 2 years ago, she decided to upgrade to 3 sessions per week. The change was immediate.

“That made the difference—not just physically but mentally,” she said. “I wake up without aches and pains. I’m super active. In my mind, I think I’m 28, and now physically, I can do stuff that’s like a 28-year-old.”

Erin’s results go beyond numbers or weight lifted. They show up in daily life—like walking confidently, moving pain-free, and having the stamina to take on anything.

“We have a saltwater pool, and the bags of salt are 40 pounds. I can grab both those bags and bring them to the back with no problem.”

FUELED BY COMMUNITY AND CONSTANT GROWTH

This past May, during one of PowerStrength’s members-only challenges, Erin leaned in even deeper. With her son’s graduation approaching—and a busy month ahead—she knew she needed extra energy and focus.

“I had a really busy May. My son graduated this year from high school, and I was running the all-night party. I knew that I’d be up for like 24 hours,” she recalled. “That challenge helped me prepare—mentally and nutritionally. I packed what I needed, and I actually rebounded pretty well.”

Though Erin has trained for years, she says she’s still learning and growing thanks to PowerStrength’s expert coaching and supportive culture.

“It made me realize I was getting kind of lazy and bored with how I was eating. The challenge just helped me tweak a couple of things—it wasn’t a hardship—but it opened my eyes and made me realize, you’re constantly growing.”

MORE THAN A GYM

For Erin, one of the biggest game-changers is the environment at PowerStrength. It’s not intimidating or overwhelming. It’s personal, welcoming, and effective.

“You’re going to walk in and you won’t be intimidated. That’s the biggest thing,” she explained. “You’ll see people in all different stages of their health journey. You’ll immediately be greeted by name, you’ll stretch with others in small groups, and you’ll build real relationships.”

She adds, “The coaches know your name, your goals, and how to push you. And I love that I’m in a group of people, maybe like five, who are all different shapes and sizes, but about the same age. You connect. You share things. It’s real.”

Erin also knows that not all fitness experiences are created equal.

“I can’t have a normal gym where there’s a class of 30 people. Your form isn’t right, no one’s watching you, and you don’t get the attention you need. Here, they know exactly what you need to work on.”

STRENGTH THAT LASTS A LIFETIME

Erin’s story is a powerful reminder that fitness isn’t just about looking good or chasing a number on the scale—it’s about building a life you can live to the fullest.

At 55, Erin is doing things she thought were long behind her. And she’s showing others what’s possible with the right training, support, and mindset.

“I exercise because I want to feel the strength and that power,” Erin says. “I feel better. I eat better. I’m probably in better shape than ever.”
