Strong Backfield Puts in Work, Transforms

The Unity Christian football team had an uncharacteristic season in 2023. The Saders missed the playoffs for the first time in ten years.

Several returning players from that team took it upon themselves to upgrade in the off-season, putting in the work at PowerStrength and school, giving themselves every advantage possible heading into this fall.

Unity Christian looks like a completely different team in 2024 as they’ve won their first 3 games.

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION

The backfield of Nolan Vis, Isaac Stienstra, Max VanKoevering, and quarterback Jackson DeHoop has been particularly explosive on offense, running through, around, and away from defenders to the tune of 41 points per game.

As soon as last season ended, all 4 showed indispensable hard work and dedication as they participated in the Premier Advanced Training Group – an invite-only program that is the most specialized at PowerStrength.

“Lifting at PowerStrength has really helped me, there’s a lot of really good athletes that go to Premier,” Vis said.

DOMINATING THE OFF-SEASON

Premier is designed for the most serious athletes to train with other like-minded individuals.

“They really push you,” Vis added. “It’s very welcoming too, I would recommend it.”

Vis and Stienstra are in their 3rd year as 2-way starters on the Varsity for the Saders.

“I’ve seen a lot of big results,” Stienstra said about PowerStrength. “I played varsity football as a sophomore which pushed me to be better each year. I’ve been training a lot and the results have been really good.”

Premier is for serious athletes who aren’t just getting prepared for the season – many have college-level aspirations. The program centers around advanced barbell techniques, optimal performance nutrition plans, performing the football combine tests at a high-level, and college recruiting.

7-ELEVEN

Starting tight end Jake Chapman is another Premier participant, center Carter VanderVeen, and guard Levi Offringa also train at PowerStrength making 7 of the 11 starters on offense that spent their off-season training at PowerStrength.

Isaiah Meyers, Brody Scholten, Seth Breuker, Ryer Selvious, and Dane VanderSlik are other Saders who are taking advantage of the one-on-one attention that each athlete gets from certified, expert trainers at PowerStrength.

No matter what happens this season, the example these athletes have set proves how much transformation can take place during a focused and consistent off-season of focused training. And the more teammates that adopt this mindset, the higher the likelihood of achieving big goals.
