Sluggers on the Rise, Only Getting Stronger with PowerStrength

The Sluggers Sports Academy continues to ascend among the baseball and softball organizations in West Michigan. As their partnership with PowerStrength Training Systems continues in year five, it is expanding.

“We started to realize, the younger the better,” Sluggers co-founder David Coble said.

The partnership began with just high school ages, it saw such positive results that 14-year-olds were added, followed by 12 and 10-year-olds, and this year the 8-year-olds have joined in.

“It’s been really awesome,” Coble stated. “It has made a big difference in our players.”

The Sluggers and PowerStrength partnership initially started in the fall of 2019. Sluggers was going to focus on (baseball and softball) player development, and PowerStrength would focus on athletic development. Sluggers wanted to provide a quality, trusted training option for their baseball and softball athletes during the off-season, and PowerStrength wanted to work with athletes who were committed to the process of continuous improvement.

What started with just the top teams from Sluggers, participation at PowerStrength has grown year-after-year- with a record-setting number of participants this off-season.

Sluggers trains multiple sessions per week at PowerStrength from September through February, off-season thru pre-season – in addition to their Sluggers commitments and additional sports.

“It has been a wonderful experience for all involved,”, PowerStrength Founder and CEO Mark Ehnis says. “Participation has grown every year and so do the results. It’s successful because the alignment is there across both programs – we’re supportive of one another and helping to create the best experience possible for the athletes and parents.”

“They do a really great job of nurturing the whole athlete,” Sluggers co-owner and lead hitting instructor Rob Hamly added. “Our younger guys are moving weights, but they are also doing a lot of speed, quickness, agility, and flexibility. And what we are finding is our athletes are getting stronger, they are moving faster, they are moving better, and we are seeing less injury.”

The Sluggers athletes are getting prepared for the next level by transforming their bodies with PowerStrengths specifically designed workouts.

“We have specialized workouts for baseball,” Hayden Myers, who is in his 5th season playing with the Sluggers, said, “we know we are getting better, we are getting faster, we are doing spring training.”
