Colt Bonstell has always been an athlete.
He played football, soccer, and even raced motocross.
During his sophomore year, he narrowed his focus down to baseball.
Now a senior at Zeeland West, Colt has put on 20 pounds of muscle since he started training at PowerStrength 11 months ago. As a pitcher and shortstop, he caught the attention of a college coach and recently committed to play baseball at Grace Christian University.
THE START
Colt found PowerStrength online, then talked to a couple of friends who already trained there.
He had trained elsewhere in the area and decided he needed something higher quality.
“I saw the stuff I liked online,” he said. “I saw better stuff here, and it kind of drew me closer. And I knew a couple guys that came here.”
He got started and has not looked back.
THE TRANSFORMATION
The first thing Colt points to is his body.
“When I first came, I was like 175lbs and kind of out of shape,” he said. “And now I’ve grown up to like 195lbs, and definitely a lot better.”

He notices the change in more than weight.
“Physically, my body’s been transformed. My exit velo and the velocity out of my hand have been improving a lot.”
ON THE FIELD
The added strength shows up at the plate and in the field.
“Power through the ball when swinging, and just being fluent and efficient around the diamond when fielding a ground ball,” Colt said.
He describes himself as a gap hitter who can still hit for power now and then.
“I do have pop sometimes.”

He says that pop has increased since he started at PowerStrength.
THE MENTAL SIDE
Colt says the training has helped his mindset as much as his body.
“Mentally, it’s put my head in the right space.”
THE COACHING
Colt has trained at other places where there are more people and less time with a trainer.
What he found at PowerStrength was a smaller setting and more focused coaching.
“I connect more with the coaches and the small group sessions,” he said. “They’re making sure I’m doing everything right, and they’re motivating me throughout the whole lift.”

Sessions at PowerStrength are never more than 6 people per certified trainer.
THE EXTRA MILE
For Colt, adding PowerStrength on top of his other work was a choice.
“It’s always important to go the extra mile,” he said. “It just makes you better, and it gets you out there.”
That work was noticed. At a prospect camp, he said, “the coach noticed it and saw that I’ve been improving.”
Colt has since committed to Grace Christian University to continue his baseball career.
TRAINING WITH A GROUP
Everyone training at PowerStrength is serious about leveling up as an athlete.
Colt says those around him make a difference.
“It’s a huge help, because everybody has a goal, and you’re all trying to work towards it, and you help each other and get everyone better.”

WHAT HE TELLS OTHERS
Asked what he’d tell someone thinking about PowerStrength, Colt kept it simple.
“It’s awesome. The environment here is like, everybody wants to see you succeed and will help you do that, and they’ll train you and get you better.”
And what is PowerStrength to him?
“They’re always here to push you and help you get better.”
