From Talented to Dominant: How Jordynn Sixbury Is Raising the Standard

Jordynn Sixbury was a solid, 7th-Grade, multi-sport athlete when she decided to begin strength training at PowerStrength at the end of last school year. Jordynn competed year-round in Softball, Basketball, and Volleyball, and she was doing plenty of things right.

But she knew there was another level.

“I felt like I was doing well with the build that I already had,” Jordynn said. “But there were just some things that I needed to get stronger in. I felt like I needed to have a more sturdy base with my body to be able to do all of these sports altogether.”

8 months later, the difference is undeniable.

Stronger. More confident. More explosive. And most importantly, better prepared to handle the demands of being a high-level, multi-sport athlete.

BUILDING A STRONGER FOUNDATION

Jordynn began training at PowerStrength in late April 2025, committing to structured, intentional training during one of the busiest stretches of her athletic calendar.

Despite travel softball, volleyball practices, and basketball commitments, she made training a priority.

“I’ll see my schedule and just fit it into the small amount of space I do have,” she said. “When I don’t do it, I feel like I’m not getting my work in that I need to.”

That commitment quickly paid off.

In just her first 8 months, Jordynn developed a stronger, more resilient body — one capable of withstanding long weekends, multiple games, and year-round competition.

“I’ve seen so many results in softball,” she said. “I’m able to catch a few games in a row now because I just have more muscle on my body, and it’s able to handle it more.”

For her father, Nathan, that durability was one of the first major changes he noticed.

“She was literally busy every single day, and we could see it in her body — it was wearing on her,” he said. “Now she’s developing great habits, and physically she can handle it.”

POWER THAT SHOWS UP IN COMPETITION

Jordynn has always been a good hitter. But since starting PowerStrength, her offensive production has reached an entirely new level.

“Before, she was hitting the fence,” Nathan said. “Now she’s driving them over the fence. There are no soft hits anymore. She’s absolutely crushing the ball.”

The numbers back it up.

Between middle school and travel softball this past Spring, Jordynn hit 27 home runs — a dramatic jump from the year prior. And the trend has continued.

“This Fall we only played 11 games, and she already had three or four home runs,” Nathan added. “When we started PowerStrength, the numbers jumped. Doubles, triples — everything off the fence. It separated her.”

Jordynn credits improvements in strength, coordination, and control.

“My hand-eye coordination is so much better,” she said. “I’m driving the ball instead of just hitting it a little ways like I used to.”

TRANSLATING ACROSS SPORTS

The gains haven’t been limited to softball.

In Volleyball and Basketball, Jordynn has seen noticeable improvements in explosiveness and power — particularly in her vertical jump and upper-body strength.

“My vertical has increased by a lot, even in a short amount of time,” she said. “When I swing in volleyball, it’s way harder than it used to be.”

Nathan noticed it immediately.

“During volleyball, we saw multiple blocks this year where last year she wasn’t really achieving that much,” he said. “Her swings were harder. Her serving was more physical.”

This is exactly what PowerStrength’s training model is designed to do: build transferable strength that carries over across sports — not just in the weight room.

CONFIDENCE BUILT THROUGH PREPARATION

While the physical changes are obvious, the mental growth may be even more impactful.

“I never think negatively of myself anymore,” Jordynn said. “The trainers here helped me think only positively. I always think about what I can do and what I’ve already done.”

That mindset shows up when it matters most.

“When a game starts, I always know, ‘Okay, I can do this,’” she said. “Because I’ve seen improvement.”

Nathan agrees.

“She’s always been confident,” he said. “But now it’s separated her from everybody else. She’s way more positive and way more confident.”

That confidence has also fueled leadership growth.

“She was more of a quiet leader before,” Nathan explained. “Now she’s more vocal. She’s pushing teammates to come train here, and parents see the difference.”

WHY STARTING EARLY MATTERS

For the Sixbury family, starting structured training in middle school has been a game-changer.

“If you start at a younger age, you develop great habits,” Nathan said. “After the first month, the habit was already there. That happened really fast.”

Jordynn agrees — and wishes she had started even sooner.

“I wish I had found out about it earlier,” she said. “I saw improvement before, but after starting this, I saw so much more in such a short amount of time.”

For young athletes balancing multiple sports, the ability to train properly — with coaching, structure, and intention — is critical.

“Most kids who lift at school don’t really know what to do,” Jordynn said. “Here, they instruct you on what to do and for how long. They teach you so many more things you could be doing.”

LOOKING AHEAD

As Jordynn prepares for high school, her goals are clear.

“My number one goal is to make Varsity as a Freshman in Softball,” she said.

With her strength base, confidence, and work ethic continuing to grow, she’s positioning herself to do exactly that.

For Nathan, the value of PowerStrength is simple.

“It’s the best thing for our young athlete,” he said. “I never thought we’d be doing this at this age — but I’m more than happy we are.”

Jordynn’s story is a powerful example of what happens when young athletes train early, train correctly, and train consistently.

Stronger bodies. Confident minds. Results that show up everywhere they compete.

And this is just the beginning.
