Strength, Speed, and Success: Kendall Fisk’s Journey to Division I Softball

For more than five years, Kendall Fisk has been a familiar face at PowerStrength Training Systems. The Cedar Springs junior and Purdue-Fort Wayne softball commit has dedicated herself to year-round training, balancing volleyball and softball seasons, travel ball commitments, and skills training. Her efforts have paid off, transforming her into a standout multi-sport athlete who continues to push the boundaries of her potential.

CRAFTING A STRONG FOUNDATION

Kendall started training at PowerStrength in middle school. At first, it took some encouragement from her dad, Gabe, to get her through the door.

“It took a little bit of convincing. I was definitely a little nervous to start, but everyone here made it very comfortable,” Kendall recalled. “My dad heard about PowerStrength and told me I should go. And ever since then, I have loved going.”

Gabe saw the program as an opportunity to give Kendall an edge.

“She likes what she gets from PowerStrength. The atmosphere and the push are different,” he said. “Her speed increased, her endurance is better. I would say her overall energy level is better. “

GAINS ON THE COURT AND THE FIELD

Kendall’s training has translated directly to her success in volleyball and softball. As a varsity volleyball player since her sophomore year, Kendall’s increased explosiveness and power are evident.

“For volleyball, it definitely helped me increase my vertical a lot, be more explosive, and move quicker,” she shared. “I can hit the ball harder, and that’s definitely noticeable on the court.”

In softball, Kendall shines as a pitcher. Known for her craftiness and ability to spin the ball, she’s also seen a significant jump in her velocity—something she credits to her strength training.

“I’m more of a spin pitcher, so I normally get a lot of swings and misses. But I’ve also definitely increased my speed,” Kendall explained. “I can throw 62 mph now, which is up from 57 mph last winter. It’s definitely a big improvement.”

These gains have made her a key player on the Cedar Springs varsity softball team since her freshman year.

YEAR-ROUND DEDICATION

What sets Kendall apart is her unwavering commitment. Despite a packed schedule, she makes training a priority.

“I train year-round. In-season, I normally go once or twice a week. In the winter, I try to go as much as possible along with all my other lessons. In the summer, I go twice a week because I’m out of town playing travel softball most of the time,” she explained.

This consistency has helped her not only maintain but build on her progress, ensuring she’s always ready for the next challenge.

“It just helps me still grow muscle and maintain it throughout the season,” Kendall said. “It’s very rewarding. It feels like everything that I’ve worked for has paid off. The dream has come true, and now I just have to keep working for it.”

STAYING MOTIVATED AFTER COMMITMENT

In December, Kendall committed to play Division I softball at Purdue-Fort Wayne. While some athletes might ease up after such a milestone, Kendall is doing the opposite.

“I want to train harder because I don’t want to let my team down now just because I’m committed,” Kendall said. “There’s still more I can work towards, and I can grow in more areas. I’m just going to keep continuing to grow, and hopefully, it helps me in the long run.”

Her dad sees this drive as a reflection of her dedication to excellence.

“If she wouldn’t have been doing this, would she have been able to commit at the Division I level? I don’t know,” Gabe admitted. “But it’s given her the edge she needed.”

A POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR GROWTH

For Kendall, PowerStrength is more than just a gym—it’s a community that has shaped her as an athlete and a person.

“Everyone around you wants the best for you,” she said. “The trainers are always challenging you, wanting you to be the best you can be. The environment is so good. Everyone’s encouraging, and it’s just fun to be around.”

This support system has also helped Kendall develop skills beyond sports.

“It’s helped me with the mental side, making sure I stay on track, balancing stuff, and with time management,” she explained.

LOOKING AHEAD

As Kendall prepares for her senior year of high school and her future at Purdue-Fort Wayne, she’s laser-focused on continuing to grow and improve. Whether it’s pitching, hitting, or playing volleyball, she’s determined to make the most of every opportunity.

“It’s just helped me be a better person, a better athlete,” Kendall said. “It’s really fun.”

From middle school beginnings to committing to a Division I program, Kendall’s journey is a testament to hard work, consistency, and the impact of a positive training environment. At PowerStrength, she’s built the foundation for success—and she’s not done yet.
