For Algoma Christian senior Logan Lockard, basketball has always been about more than just stats or accolades. He’s not chasing college offers. Instead, his goal is simple: to be the best version of himself on the court—and in life.
That pursuit led him to PowerStrength Training Systems this past March. In just a few months, the results have been dramatic. Logan has added nearly 20 pounds of lean muscle, increased his vertical jump by three inches, and most importantly, built a new level of confidence that carries with him far beyond the basketball court.
“I feel way more confident in everything that I do, even outside of sports,” Logan said. “I used to get nervous before games, but now I feel like I’m just the best. It’s shot my confidence way up.”

A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRAINING
Like many athletes, Logan had worked with elite basketball trainers for years. But he realized that to separate himself, he needed more than skill work. He needed strength, speed, and explosiveness.
“I heard about PowerStrength from friends like Blake Ryder and Caris Nelson,” Logan explained. “Caris told me he couldn’t dunk, and within four months of training here, he could. That made me want to give it a try.”
Logan was second team All-Conference last Fall, but if the summer is any indication, he is on the rise for his senior season as a result of his training at PSTS.
“The same kids that I was equal with in strength, I can just bump them and send them flying,” he said. “The kids who used to bump me around can’t anymore. I feel faster, and on fastbreaks, I’m the first one down the court.”
MORE THAN BASKETBALL
For Logan, the growth he’s experienced hasn’t just been physical. His dad, Randy, has seen the transformation firsthand.
“He’s stronger, he’s faster, but the biggest thing I’ve seen is the confidence,” Randy said. “When he’s driving to the hoop, he can push through contact. But beyond basketball, his ability to talk to people is better. He’s more prepared for the world in general.”
That confidence is something Logan treasures most. Athletes train at PowerStrength for many reasons; for Logan, it’s about becoming the best version of himself right now.
“I’m not really looking to play in college,” he said. “I just want to get better. That’s all I care about.”
Even if Logan doesn’t want to, his dad says he’s prepared to play at the next level as a result of training at PowerStrength.
“He’s equipped to be a college athlete,” Randy stated. “If he doesn’t play college sports, he’s just more prepared for the world in general.”
WISHING HE STARTED SOONER
Logan now trains four days a week, determined to make the most of his senior season. But if there’s one regret, it’s that he didn’t start sooner.
“I feel like if I started earlier, even though I don’t want to play in college, I’d probably have offers just from the progress I’ve made in three months,” Logan said. “I know I’d be a way better athlete if I had started even a year earlier.”
The evolution of Logan’s athleticism has been so profound that Randy suggests other athletes should start PowerStrength at a younger age to maximize growth.
“He’s going to be a senior this year, and he feels like if he’d started as a freshman and had four years of this, the gains would’ve been huge,” Randy said. “I would highly recommend PowerStrength to anyone who’s looking for that edge. Because everyone is skills training, but if you’re looking to go a step above everyone else, I would say PowerStrength is where it’s at.”
BUILDING STRONGER, MORE CONFIDENT ATHLETES
Not every PowerStrength athlete is chasing the next level. Some want to make the team. Some want more playing time. And some, like Logan, simply want to be the best high school athlete they can be.
For Logan, PowerStrength has been more than a gym. It’s been a place to grow stronger, faster, and more confident—on the court and off.
“It’s the best environment I’ve probably been in for weightlifting,” Logan said. “Everyone wants to get better, the trainers are awesome, and it’s fun. It’s 100% worth it.”
