What Claire Marosi Would Tell Her Younger Self

In her senior season at Grand Rapids Catholic Central, Claire Marosi scored 160 goals and added 35 assists.

195 points in a single season. The third-most goals ever recorded in a single season in Michigan girls lacrosse history. The fourth-most points.

She also helped lead Grand Rapids Catholic Central to a state championship — the perfect ending to a high school career that was, by almost any measure, exceptional.

Then she got to Northwestern.

And she realized there was another level.

“We have some of the best players (in the country) on the team,” Claire said. “One of the girls won the Tewaaraton — that’s like the Heisman for lacrosse. Just watching her and everyone else, I feel like I really know what it takes to win now.”

Northwestern won the national championship this season. Claire was there. She saw what elite looked like up close, every day in practice, every week on the field.

Now she’s home for the summer. And she’s doing something she wishes she had started long before college.

WHERE IT STARTED

Claire first came to PowerStrength in November, on winter break from school.

She had a few weeks before she needed to be back on campus. Most college athletes heading home for the holidays spend that time recovering. Claire decided to use it differently.

“All the people here are just so disciplined and motivated,” she said. “It goes beyond just working out. They’re really personal with you. They give you good insights on your nutrition, how you can be doing better, and help you stay focused and locked while you’re in the gym.”

What she found wasn’t just a training facility. It was an environment built around getting better — one that felt different from anything she had experienced before.

“It’s really personal,” Claire said. “They always ask you how you’re doing, how’s your day. It’s not like you’re in and out. The trainers really want to know more about you. And I think that helps me do better and work harder while I’m in there.”

A FEW WEEKS. A NOTICEABLE DIFFERENCE.

The results from that first winter visit came faster than she expected.

“Stronger and faster on the field,” Claire said. “My first step is much better.”

But the moment that stood out most didn’t happen at PowerStrength.

It happened when she returned to campus.

“My strength coach actually said something as well — that I got stronger and faster,” she said. “It was great to see too.”

It’s meaningful when a Division I strength coach at one of the premier lacrosse programs in the country notices a change after just a few weeks of training during winter break.

For Claire, it confirmed what she had already started to feel.

“In the Winter I came only for a couple of weeks, and I saw the result just from a couple of weeks,” she said. So for a whole summer — the results are just going to be really, really good.”

TRAINING AMONG THE BEST

Now Claire is back. This time for the full summer, training in PowerStrength’s College Summer Training Program alongside some of the best college athletes in West Michigan.

The environment is different from anything she had experienced training on her own.

“It’s super beneficial,” she said. “There’s that competitive level — this person is working hard, I want to beat them as well. And the trainers kind of motivate that into you, which I think is a great thing. Because sometimes it’s hard just going to the gym and doing reps alone. Having other athletes with you pushes you as well.”

That competitive energy — athletes from programs across the region pushing each other in the same session — mirrors what Claire experiences every day at Northwestern.

It’s what makes the summer matter.

WHAT WINNING LOOKS LIKE

Playing for one of the top programs in the country has given Claire something that can’t be taught.

She knows what a national championship environment looks like from the inside. She’s watched teammates compete every day in practice. She’s felt the standard that elite programs demand.

“Just learning from the greats every day,” she said. “I feel like I really know what it takes to win now. And I think I’m excited to take that skill and keep moving forward.”

Her goals heading into next season are clear.

“Just be the best player I can be. Hopefully make an All-Conference team and help my team keep moving forward.”

A full summer of consistent training — building on what she started in November — is how she plans to get there.

WHAT SHE’D TELL YOUNGER ATHLETES

Claire is one of the most decorated high school lacrosse players in Michigan history.

She wishes she had started PowerStrength sooner.

“I wish that I would have come in high school,” she said. “I think it would have helped me even more. But I’m happy I’m here now.”

Her advice to athletes thinking about getting started?

“When you’re in here, give 110%. You’re only in here for an hour a day — make sure you’re giving your full hundred percent when you’re here.

And if someone is on the fence?

“PowerStrength is the edge that a lot of people wish they had. It’s given me that extra edge that some players don’t have at home. I’m really grateful that I’m able to come home from college and have this place to help me keep moving forward.”
