All-In: How 3-Sport Standout Addy Rhodes Found Her Edge

When you see Calvin Christian Senior Addy Rhodes on the court or field, one thing stands out — she’s always moving. Whether it’s launching into a spike, cutting across the basketball floor, or sprinting past opponents on the soccer field, her athleticism and drive shine through.

But behind that athletic edge is something that was built with years of consistency and personalized training.

Addy has trained at PowerStrength since 8th grade, and over that time, she’s transformed herself into one of the most accomplished multi-sport athletes in her school’s history — a 3-year varsity volleyball player, 4-year varsity basketball player, and 4-year varsity soccer player.

When she graduates, she’ll leave Calvin Christian with an incredible 11 varsity letters and a commitment to play college basketball at Calvin University.

BUILDING SPEED, STRENGTH, AND CONFIDENCE

When Addy first joined PowerStrength, her goal was simple: get faster.

“I started PowerStrength because my parents and I decided it would be a good idea for me to really get into my strength and improve my speed,” Addy said. “I was not the fastest person. So the speed training is why we really started, but it turned into strength gains — and I really like it.”

That early focus on speed became the foundation for everything else. Over time, she built the kind of full-body strength, agility, and confidence that shows up in every sport she plays.

“Comparing myself to where I used to be, to how I am now – I just feel accomplished,” Addy said. “For volleyball, I notice it in my jumping. In basketball, I’ve gotten faster and stronger, and I feel like my endurance is so much better because of PowerStrength.”

A PERSONALIZED PROGRAM THAT FITS

What Addy loves most about PowerStrength is how personalized every session feels.

“The biggest difference for me is how individualized it is,” she said. “When I lift with my team at school, it’s either all volleyball stuff or all basketball stuff. What I like about PowerStrength is that it touches a little bit of each of those.”

That tailored approach, designed around her sports, goals, and ability level, has helped her not only stay healthy but keep improving year-round — even during the season.

Addy continues to train at PowerStrength during her volleyball and basketball seasons.

“I think it just keeps me consistent,” she said. “It keeps me improving, even if it’s smaller improvements during the season.”

MENTALLY STRONG, PHYSICALLY READY

Beyond the physical gains, Addy says PowerStrength gives her something she can’t get anywhere else — a mental reset and personal focus.

“It feels good for me mentally,” she said. “It’s a mental break. It’s not with my team — it’s more individual. So it’s really personal and getting me better as an athlete. I like the personalization of it.”

Her dedication shows in her schedule. As a 3-sport athlete balancing practices, games, and schoolwork, she still finds time to make training a priority.

“I’m a big planner,” Addy said. “I sit down every Sunday and PowerStrength is one of my priorities. If I can’t find a time during the week, I’ll come Saturday mornings.”

PREPARING FOR THE NEXT LEVEL

Addy is preparing to finish her Senior year of high school strong.

As she gets ready to play basketball at Calvin University, Addy knows the work she’s done at PowerStrength is paying off.

“It’s always important to be fit and strong,” she said. “It helps prevent injuries, and when your body and muscles are strong, you tend to get hurt less.”

Reflecting on her journey, Addy says she can clearly see how far she’s come — both physically and mentally.

“I think without PowerStrength, I wouldn’t be as strong as I am or able to do the things I can,” she said. “It’s where I really push myself to go above and beyond, and it shows on the court.

FINDING CONFIDENCE AND COMMUNITY

Over the past 4 years, Addy hasn’t just grown as an athlete — she’s grown as a person.

“I feel like I’ve been more confident,” she said. “Starting here, I wasn’t as confident, but now I realize that I can do things I never thought I could. There was a time when I didn’t think I could even bench or squat the bar — now I can do that and more.”

And through it all, she’s felt supported by the PowerStrength coaches and community.

“They’re really encouraging and welcoming,” Addy said. “As soon as you walk in the door, they’re saying hi and making you feel included. It’s very personalized.”

When asked to sum up what PowerStrength means to her, Addy didn’t hesitate.

“I think inviting is a good word,” she said with a smile.

After 3 and a half years of training, competing, and growing, Addy Rhodes has built more than strength — she’s built confidence, resilience, and a foundation that will carry her into college and beyond.
