Rockford Youth Lacrosse Athletes Ready for Season, Success

Several dedicated members of the Rockford Youth Lacrosse program returned to PowerStrength to build a solid foundation of strength and athleticism to prepare for the upcoming season.

For the past few years, this program has made the structured training program a priority and secure time-slots just for their ahletes – and more and more athletes are participating each year.

With focused determination and the guidance of expert coaches, these young athletes transformed themselves physically and mentally, gearing up for the challenges of the upcoming lacrosse season.

“I’ve gotten faster, stronger, and more agile,” 7th grader Dennis Clark said about his training at PowerStrength.

SPECIFIC FOCUS

For the months leading up to their season, these committed athletes attended two sessions per week at PowerStrength. This wasn’t just any generic workout routine, but a tailored program designed specifically to enhance their lacrosse performance and to withstand the demands of the sport. From improving agility to increasing speed and power, every aspect of their training was meticulously crafted to enhance athletic components to have success playing the sport they love.

“I could see them get stronger and closer as a team,” PowerStrength coach Kyle Dent said.

At PowerStrength, the athletes didn’t just lift weights or run sprints. They engaged in exercises that targeted lacrosse-specific movements, learning proper techniques under the watchful eyes of experienced trainers. Through a combination of strength training, agility drills, and conditioning exercises, these young players not only improved their physical capabilities but also improved essential skills like self-discipline, becoming more mentally tough, and getting used to stepping out of their comfort zone.

TEAM BONDING

One of the most significant benefits of their time at PowerStrength was the camaraderie that developed among the athletes. Training together fostered a sense of unity and teamwork, strengthening the bonds that would be crucial during the upcoming season.

“It is cool seeing the dynamic of a team that trains together,” Dent said. “Not only do they train together, but they go to school together, you see that higher level of camaraderie. Not only that, you see them push each other a little further as well. Seeing them push each other to get better is a cool thing.”

Whether pushing each other through a tough training session or cheering on their teammates, the athletes found support and encouragement in one another, creating a positive and motivating environment.

“I thought it was pretty fun just to work out with my friends,Clark said.

HAVING FUN

Beyond the physical gains, the athletes found enjoyment in their training and the processing of just being in the gym – a component that PowerStrength emphasizes. If you don’t have fun, then the long-term results will suffer. Despite the intensity of the sessions, they embraced the opportunity to challenge themselves and push their limits, all while having fun in a safe and supportive setting. Each session became an opportunity for growth and improvement, both individually and as a team.

SEASON READY

Now, as the lacrosse season approaches, these dedicated athletes are poised for success. Thanks to their hard work and commitment at PowerStrength, they enter the season in peak physical condition, faster, stronger, and more confident than ever before. They are ready to take on whatever challenges come their way, prepared to compete at their best.

“I think it will give us a better chance at winning most games,” Clark said. “We lose games from being tired and losing strength.”

As they step onto the field, the young athletes of the Rockford Youth Lacrosse program carry with them the lessons learned and the progress made during these last few months. They are primed to make their mark, not just as individual players, but as a united team who put the work in together.
