PowerStrength Gives Back

The last few weeks PowerStrength has had a few opportunities to get out in the community and give back. Athletic development is usually priority number one for us but we pride ourselves in sparking personal growth as well. Check out what we have been up to outside of the gym!

Visited Six Middle Schools

We wanted to do this for awhile now and happy we finally had the opportunity to do so. Jared contacted area principles asking if he could come speak if possible. We were fortunate to visit six middle schools and share with over 1,000 kids! Jared touched on two things at every visit- controlling the controllables in life, which are your work ethic and attitude. Some schools we discussed a little training and nutrition but this was not the main reason for out visits. We simply wanted to make an impact and Jared used his story to do so. We’re looking forward to more opportunities in the future as all the schools we attended were a lot of fun!

Kemp Luchie Memorial Scholarship Fund Fundraiser

Kemp Luchie was a peer of ours back in high school. He was taken from us too early in life and we’ve always wanted to figure out a way to give back to his legacy. Kemp was a humble leader and definitely made an impact on me. We sprung the idea to his friends who run his scholarship fund and set it up. Vitale’s Restaurant in Comstock Park helped us out big time and opened up their place to host the event and donate a portion of the sales. It was a great night and an awesome turnout! Jared was a guest bartender and raffled off some items. Big thanks to everyone who came out to support and donated. In one night, $3,000 was raised for the scholarship fund!

Living Water International Walk

This event was organized by one of our interns. We brought some of our athletes and coaches to participate. This event was designed to shed light on the lack of clean water around the world and how some people have to walk miles just to get clean water! The goal of this event was to do two laps around the pond at Cornerstone University (1.3 miles) while carrying buckets of water. Despite the cold and rain it was a good turnout and we had fun with it. You basically had to perform a 1.3 mile farmer walk holding two buckets. Our athletes got competitive to see who could hold the longest. A few made it one lap while one of our athletes (Steve Meekhof) made it the whole two laps! Enough money was raised to build a clean water well in India!

PowerLead Leadership Meeting #2

Our second PowerLead leadership meeting took place. I kicked it off by talking about the importance of integrity in building credibility as a leader. I then passed it off to Jared who was our speaker for the day. Jared spoke for 45-minutes to our athletes about accountability and doing the little things to develop leadership. Our athletes soaked it all in. PowerLead is a way we can make sure our athletes are growing as young men and women and not simply just as an athlete.

We will continue to stay active in the community and truly demonstrate that with great strength comes GREAT responsibility. Simply being a dominating athlete in the gym and on the field is nothing if you’re selfish and are unhelpful to those around you.

This is why we’re PowerStrength STRONG!
