Coach Dean and PowerStrength Founder and CEO, Mark Ehnis, go back further than most people know. Their relationship began years ago — rooted in a shared belief that doing right by the athlete, above everything else, is the only way to build something worth building.
Over the years, that mutual respect grew through shared events, camps, and a history of crossing paths at the right moments. When the opportunity came to bring Coach Dean in front of the entire PowerStrength Team, the only decision was nailing down the date.
30+ years of Hall of Fame coaching experience, a track record of building championship culture from nothing, raising a strong household, and a perspective on athlete development that goes well beyond the weight room — Coach Dean had plenty to share.
And he didn’t hold back.
Despite multiple locations, the PowerStrength Team functions as one. It’s how the culture and product remain strong and consistent. Bringing in guest speakers like Coach Dean is strategic for the areas the team is focused on improving.
‘Live a Complacency Kills Lifestyle’ is one of the PowerStrength core values – and Coach Dean shared realistic lessons and strategies to reinforce these values and company mission.

Key Takeaways
Below are just a few key takeaways from the PowerStrength Team members:
Adam Sparks, Athlete Coordinator “My biggest takeaway from Coach was that we owe it to the people we haven’t met yet to be the best version of ourselves.”
Derek Ehnis, Regional Manager “My biggest takeaway as a coach and as a parent is just understanding what people are trying to accomplish. Asking that question can cause some really good conversations moving forward.”

Anna Watkin, Performance Specialist “My biggest takeaway is the idea of giving to receive.”
Alex Spagnuolo, Performance Specialist “My biggest takeaway from Coach is that in 25 years, you’re going to wish that you were a better person now, for the future.”
Ty French, Performance Specialist “My biggest takeaway was not being complacent — and live a Complacency Kills lifestyle.”
Jen Erffmeyer, Operations Manager “Biggest takeaway would be, be willing to do what others are not willing to do.”
Cam White, Chief Operating Officer “My biggest takeaway was the concept that you have to have this conversation with yourself 20 years from now — so what is your goal? What are you aiming to do?”
Mark Ehnis, Founder & CEO “Some of my biggest takeaways from Coach Dean: first of all, lethargy is a disease. One of our core values here is living a Complacency Kills Lifestyle — so that really resonated with me and I think our staff, about how we just need to have energy and can’t rest on our laurels or past success. We have to constantly be improving. A second thing I would say is that eventually, these kids that you work with will come of age. How do we want them to perceive us from the memories that they do have? What do we want those memories to say about us?”
