Record-setting 2024 College Signing Day – PowerStrength Edition
National signing day is the seminole moment in a high school athlete’s prep career.
This is when high school seniors officially make their college commitment to continue their academic and athletic careers.
It’s a milestone achievement for athletes, parents, coaches, and their school programs as it marks years of dedication, hard work, and sacrifice – one that always warrants recognition and celebration.
Over the years, PowerStrength has helped over 500 local athletes from West Michigan earn college scholarships and opportunities.
100+ athletes in just the last two years!
Collectively, there are currently 67 athletes from PowerStrength, across 9 different sports, in the 2024 Class with plans to continue their playing career in college – which is a record number for PowerStrength. (The majority are committed with a handful still deciding.)
Whether it’s NCAA Division 1 or NAIA, scholarship or non-scholarship – these athletes are in an elite group!
Committing to a college sport is not for everyone and their choice to continue on says a lot about their love of the game and work ethic. Earning this opportunity is a challenging task and it takes a toll.
Each of these athletes bet on themselves and did the work consistently– in their sport, the classroom, and in their training – for years.
2024 was another distinct privilege of working with a group of athletes that have earned the opportunity to play their sport at the next level.
Rockford senior offensive tackle Alex Mcphee is off to play at Butler in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
McPhee came to PowerStrength specifically to get to the next level.
“It’s crazy!” McPhee stated about the impact that PSTS has had on him. “I wouldn’t be in the position I’m in right now, going into college being able to play a sport if I didn’t get the training I did from these guys here.”
West Catholic wide receiver and linebacker Ryer Snow has signed to play for GLIAC champion Grand Valley State.
A few years ago, Snow knew if he was going to be able to play in college, he needed to increase his speed and quickness. After the three years at PowerStrength, he has earned his spot.
“I am now quicker on the field, stronger on the field, with a quicker reaction time,” Snow said. “I just feel more physical because I know my body is bigger and more physically demanding.”
Snow’s West Catholic teammate, Charlie DeBruyn has also signed to play in the GLIAC, the running back and linebacker is heading to Davenport.
DeBruyn says that work he has done at PowerStrength has been a major benefit to his pursuit of greatness on the field.
“The advantage I got from working out here (PowerStrength) going into workouts at school is insane,” DeBuryn said. “The difference between the kids that workout here on my team to the kids that only do the school workouts, there is definitely a physical advantage to the stuff that you gain from going to PowerStrength.”
No matter the sport or the level, the dedication and hard work it takes to get to play a sport at the college level is great.
It’s a privilege to be a part of their journey and have a front-row seat watching them achieve their goals!
CONGRATULATIONS to the PowerStrength 2024 College Signing Day Class and all other athletes representing West Michigan at the next level!
